Mother’s Brewing Company undergoes change in ownership

Mother’s Brewing Company, one of Springfield’s most well-known craft breweries, is set to undergo a change in ownership, as founder Jeff Schrag eyes retirement as CEO, according to a press release from the company.

While Schrag and his wife, Mary Schrag, will remain minority investors in Mother’s, Jeff and Lindsay Seifried will take over the day-to-day operations of the brewery.

Jeff Schrag will continue to assist with some operations as he transitions toward retirement from the beer making business.

“Lindsay and I have loved Mother’s Brewery since it opened in 2011 and have watched it become one of Springfield’s and Missouri’s top craft beer brands, we look forward to building on the legacy Jeff Schrag built,” Jeff Seifried said in the release.

In addition to serving as a Springfield City Council member from 2012 to 2015, Jeff Seifried has worked for the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and several other local companies. Jeff and Lindsay Seifried both have backgrounds in sales and marketing.

Mother’s Brewing Company, soon-to-be the Seifrieds’ latest venture, is celebrating its 12th year in business this month.

The Seifrieds are already eying growth opportunities for Mother’s beer, including expanding the Barrel Room capacity in hopes of becoming one of Springfield’s “finest event venues.”
